What is Regenerative Medicine?
Regenerative medicine treatments like PRP, PRF, and PRF EZ Gel use your body’s own blood components to stimulate collagen, improve skin texture, and restore volume naturally. These therapies gradually enhance skin quality over time, offering a subtle yet powerful approach to rejuvenation without traditional dermal filler products.
Your Body's Own "Liquid Gold"
PRP (Platelet-Rich-Plasma):
PRP is made from your own blood and contains mostly platelets and plasma. Once injected, it delivers growth factors quickly to jumpstart your skin’s healing and collagen production. Results happen sooner, but the boost tapers off within days.
PRF (Platelet-Rich-Fibrin):
PRF is spun more slowly than PRP, making it richer and more nutrient-dense. It contains both platelets and a natural fibrin scaffold, which allows for a slower, steadier release of growth factors over 7–10 days. Think of it as a more powerful, longer-lasting version of PRP.
PRF EzGel:
PRF EZ Gel is the gold standard of regenerative medicine technologies. Once injected, the gel offers both instant smoothing and long-term regenerative benefits. The EZ Gel gives structure and volume, while the PRF slowly releases growth factors to boost collagen and elastin over time. We love utilizing this regenerative technique as an alternative to traditional dermal fillers in areas where we want additional collagen stimulation. It restores volume while also delivering growth factors over 3+ months, with results that can last up to a year.

Topical Application & Injection Areas
PRP (Platelet-Rich-Plasma):
Applied after microneedling for faster healing and enhanced results, or injected into the under-eyes or scars as its own treatment.
PRF (Platelet-Rich-Fibrin):
Applied after microneedling for faster healing and enhanced results, or injected into the under-eyes or scars as its own treatment for a deeper collagen boost.
PRF EzGel:
Injected into cheeks, nasolabial folds, and under eyes to restore volume and act like a “natural filler” as its own treatment.
Before Treatment
In preparation for your PRP, PRF, or PRF EzGel treatment, we recommend that you refrain from taking any blood thinning medications or supplements such as Aspirin, Ibuprofen, vitamin E, and fish oil. We also ask that you avoid any alcohol consumption at least 48 hours prior to your treatment. Avoid skin irritants and intentional tanning about 7 days prior and any active ingredients such as retinol 1 to 2 days before. It is best to ensure you are staying hydrated the days leading up to your appointment as we will be drawing your blood.
During Treatment
During a thorough consultation with one of our aesthetic Nurse Practitioners, we will review your medical history, assess your facial features, and create the best treatment plan for you. All three treatments start with one of our aesthetic Nurse Practitioners drawing your blood. Depending on the treatment plan, we can either apply topically, inject into treated areas or both.
The first step is to draw your blood. Once we take the sample of blood, the PRP or PRF is separated from the other components. This process involves spinning the blood at a high speed in a centrifuge to allow it to separate the plasma or fibrin from the red blood cells. There’s an extra step with PRF EzGel. We draw two samples of your blood: one with your PRF and one with your Albumin (a protein also found in your blood). The mixture is gently heated and cooled, forming a gel-like texture that is 100% autologous.
After Treatment
There is minimal downtime associated with regenerative aesthetic treatments. However, with any treatment where we introduce a needle to the skin, there is always a chance of bruising and swelling post-treatment. There may be redness and swelling at the injection site, but this typically resolves within a few days. We highly recommend planning ahead and allocating for 2 weeks of social downtime in case of residual bruising and swelling.
Results & Timeline
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)
Results from PRP are usually the quickest to appear. Since the growth factors are released rapidly, you may notice refreshed skin, improved texture, and a healthy glow within the first couple of weeks. However, because the release tapers off quickly, results are typically more subtle and may require a series of treatments for best outcomes.
PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin)
PRF takes things a step further. With its nutrient-rich fibrin scaffold, results build more steadily over 1 to 3 months as your skin continues to regenerate. You’ll notice gradual improvements in texture, brightness, and elasticity, with benefits that tend to last longer than PRP.
PRF EZ Gel
EZ Gel works more like a “natural filler.” You may notice subtle volume and structure right away, but best results happen gradually over 3 to 4 months as collagen production continues. Because of its sustained release of growth factors, results can last up to a year, making it the longest-lasting regenerative option we offer.
For all regenerative options, we typically recommend a series of 2 to 3 treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart to achieve optimal results. After your initial series, maintenance sessions may be suggested based on your goals and your body’s natural response.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the treatment take?
PRP, PRF, and PRF EzGel treatments can take anywhere from 45 to 90 minutes to complete, including time allotting for topical numbing.
What treatments can I add regenerative technologies to?
We love adding on PRP or PRF to either the SkinPen microneedling and Morpheus8 RF microneedling treatments to help increase collagen production and kickstart your body’s natural healing process.
When will I see results?
Results are typically evident in weeks to months following treatment and can last anywhere from several months to a year, depending on the type of regenerative treatment used and individual factors. With regenerative medicine, it’s important to note that results are dependent on the individual’s overall health and wellbeing.
How do I know which regenerative treatment is right for me?
The best regenerative treatment can look a little different for everyone. Factors like your skin type, areas of concern, and what you’d like to achieve all play a role in deciding whether PRP, PRF, or PRF EZ Gel will be the most effective fit. At Thistle, our providers will walk you through the options during a consultation, explain what you can expect from each treatment, and create a plan that’s customized to you.
