What is DiamondGlow® Microdermabrasion?
The DiamondGlow® microdermabrasion utilizes a diamond-tip wand to simultaneously exfoliate, extract, and infuse the skin with SkinMedica® professional-grade serums. Because the infusion happens at the same moment as exfoliation, your skin absorbs active ingredients more effectively, leaving it hydrated, plump, and radiant.
What is a Dermaplaning Treatment?
Dermaplaning is a gentle exfoliation technique that uses a surgical-grade blade to remove dead skin cells and fine “peach fuzz.” Skin is left feeling smooth and looks instantly brighter. Plus, skincare products penetrate deeper, and makeup applies more flawlessly. It’s quick, safe, and effective for giving your skin a refreshed, polished finish without downtime.
Before Treatment
To make your experience as comfortable as possible and limit potential side effects like bleeding and bruising, we recommend staying away from blood thinning medications like Ibuprofen and Aspirin before your appointment, limiting alcoholic beverages, taking an oral herbal supplement called Arnica, and eating fresh pineapple. The day of your appointment, we recommend eating and drinking plenty of water. We want to make sure your body’s in the best shape possible for your treatment.
During Treatment
During your appointment, the provider will start by taking your before photo for your chart, reviewing your medical history and pre-treatment questionnaire, and asking you to perform different expressions to assess your musculature. The provider will then use a sterilizing wipe or pad over the injection site and slightly pinch the area to raise your skin up, injecting the product using a tiny needle. The injection itself is pretty quick and most clients feel little to no pain.
After Treatment
We recommend avoiding heavy lifting, exercise, alcoholic beverages, and keeping your head above your heart for 4 hours following treatment. When booking, give yourself up to two weeks before any events as bruising may be expected. Our vasculature is very complex! Additionally, no facial treatments like waxing, laser, facials, massages, or chemical peels for the next two weeks. There’s minimal downtime, letting you get back to your day right away!
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there downtime with microdermabrasion/dermaplaning?
Nope! You may experience mild redness immediately after, but it subsides quickly.
How long does each treatment take?
DiamondGlow and Dermaplaning each take about 20-30 minutes, making them easy to fit into your lunch break.
Can I combine DiamondGlow and Dermaplaning?
Absolutely! Many clients choose to combine Dermaplaning + DiamondGlow for maximum exfoliation, serum infusion, and glow. You can also combine these treatments with a facial for more relaxation, massage, and customization of products. We love our Dermaplaning Facial and DiamondGlow Facial!
Can I do my Botox the same day as my DiamondGlow or Dermaplaning?
Yes, a lot of our clients love to combine treatments. We will perform the skin treatment first, followed by your injection.
I have an event coming up, when should I schedule my Diamondglow or Dermaplaning?
For best results, we recommend scheduling your DiamondGlow or Dermaplaning treatment about 3 to 7 days before your event. Both treatments leave your skin instantly refreshed, radiant, and glowing with no downtime, but giving your skin a few days allows any mild pinkness or sensitivity to fully settle.
Does a ‘tinkle’ razor from the drugstore provide the same results as a professional Dermaplaning blade?
Not quite! While at-home razors like a “tinkle” can remove some surface peach fuzz, they don’t compare to the precision, safety, and results of professional dermaplaning. In our treatments, we use a surgical-grade blade designed specifically for exfoliation. This allows us to remove not just fine hair but also the top layer of dead skin cells which something at-home tools can’t do safely or effectively.
