The world of aesthetics is ever evolving. Every year we see advancements in technology, greater access to evidence based research, and the rise of transparency and sharing real experiences and results on social media (no gatekeeping here). Over the past decade, we have seen a shift in the aesthetic industry to an overall holistic approach focusing on non-surgical treatment options, implementing lifestyle changes, full transparency from your injector, and concierge aesthetic medicine. Instead of solely seeking injectable treatments, we are also incorporating regenerative medicine into our treatment belts. Here is a list of aesthetic trends that we believe will shape the future of aesthetic medicine!
1. The future of aesthetics is regenerative medicine.
Regenerative medicine including collagen stimulation therapies such as Sculptra and SkinPen/Morpheus radiofrequency are all the rage in aesthetics and for good reason!! These collagen induction treatments stimulate production of one of the most important building blocks to youthful skin: collagen. Collagen is our fountain of youth protein that assists in maintaining plumpness, brightness, and overall youthfulness to the skin. SkinPen and Morpheus radiofrequency microneedling both create controlled injury to the skin thus stimulating the body’s natural wound healing process resulting in overall skin rejuvenation! Sculptra is a form of biostimulation and is made of a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), that when strategically injected into the dermis of the skin, stimulates the body’s natural production of collagen in the form of new tissue growth over time. By stimulating collagen, we may gradually, yet effectively, restore lost volume and improve the appearance of fine lines/wrinkles and loose, sagging skin.
2. Preventative rejuvenation treatments over restorative treatments.
Treating earlier, rather than later, and with consistency allows us the opportunity to stay proactive and target skin concerns such as fine lines and wrinkles, collagen loss, hyperpigmentation, skin laxity, and overall skin rejuvenation. The earlier you start your skincare journey, and with regular and continued treatments, we are able to address signs of aging before they become a skin concern thus, slowing down the aging process and saving you money on restorative treatments in the long run.
3. Taking on a more conservative approach to aesthetics.
We always preach that the best aesthetic changes are the ones that are subtle and hard to put a finger on. You’re still you, but better! Aesthetics should never be a “one-size-fits-all” approach as we each have features and skin concerns unique to us. With the latest products and technologies on the market, it takes a trained, educated, and experienced aesthetic provider that understands facial anatomy and has an artistic eye to achieve natural and tasteful results. Utilizing multiple modalities to target not only all layers of the skin but also the muscle, bone, and fat reap far greater results than solely treating one area and using one treatment modality. Aesthetic medicine is an art and a science! Seeking a provider who prioritizes patient safety and continues their education is so important!
4.Following an annual customized treatment plan.
There has been a positive shift towards self-care and we’re here for it! Making time for yourself is non-negotiable and our team of aesthetic professionals are excited to work together to support your self-love and confidence journeys. Having a strategic game plan for the year allows you to plan ahead balancing your schedule, lifestyle, and budget. Consistency is the major key to maintaining results and keeping you looking and feeling your very best. Setting attainable goals for yourself will hold you accountable and closer to accomplishing your skincare dreams.
5. The rise of LED therapy.
If you’re a beauty girlie, you may have heard all the rage on Instagram and TikTok about LED therapy. At Thistle Skincare Studio, we offer Celluma LED therapy, a non-invasive, low-light therapy to treat a variety of skin and health concerns such as acne, wrinkles, pain, and inflammation. Emitting specific wavelengths of light energy such as a combination of blue, red, and near infrared, allows the natural regeneration of compromised cells, improves skin and overall well-being, and promotes healing from within.
6. New technologies such as the first ever injectable moisturizer.
One of the latest advancements in technology is the first ever FDA-approved injectable moisturizer known as Skinvive™ by Juvederm®. This skin booster is injected superficially into the dermis to assist the skin in retaining its natural moisture levels, improve overall texture and smoothness, and provide a glow from within.
7. Saying no to trendy skincare products and investing in medical and professional grade skincare.
Raise your hand if you’ve personally succumbed to buying skincare promoted on TikTok? (We’re guilty of it too.) While there may be a place for fun products in your routines, the effectiveness of medical grade skincare should not be overlooked. Medical grade skincare is formulated by highly experienced chemists and physicians who use ingredients backed by science to target skin concerns and improve overall skin quality. The difference between over the counter (i.e. Ulta/Sephora skincare) and medical grade/professional skincare is a higher concentration of active ingredients therefore yielding quicker results. We’re mindful to only carry products at Thistle Medical Skincare Studio that we tried and tested ourselves and know to be effective because we understand skincare is an investment!
8. Natural makeup is in.
Who remembers the full beat trend of 2016? (Think heavy contour and full coverage concealer and foundation.) It’s 2024, we’re replacing the “cakey” look of the past with a more lighter coverage and dewy finish while also looking for makeup formulated with great ingredients!
Even with all these changes happening, one thing stays the same: Thistle Medical Skincare Studio’s commitment to offering the highest quality of service while achieving natural yet impactful results. If you are looking for a team of women that have a vision for change in the aesthetic industry and implement a comprehensive approach to aesthetics, you’ve found the right place!
