Do you want to look and feel like the very best version of yourself? You’ve come to the right place! At Thistle Medical Skincare Studio, our team of aesthetic professionals are here to be your skincare and aesthetic guides while also being the number one supporter of your self-love, growth, and confidence journey! The world of aesthetics has come a LONG way since its beginning. We’d like to contribute to breaking the stigma behind injectables. Advancements in technology, knowledge, experience in the field, and access to social media have shown that the best aesthetic changes are the ones that are subtle and hard to put a finger on.

Now, let’s shine a little spotlight on collagen and elastin for a hot second. Collagen and elastin are the fountain-of-youth proteins that maintain our youthful skin, give us our glow, and keep everything nice and tight! After our 20s, we lose 1% of collagen every year which may present itself as gravitational pull and lost volume across all areas of the face. Decreased collagen presents as a loss of volume in our cheeks and lips, the lower area of the face starts to jowl, and our jawline is not as defined as it used to be. Sadly, gravity is not our friend when it comes to aging, but with facial balancing techniques, utilizing multiple modalities, and understanding beauty dimensions, rest assured that there are ways to help bring your youthful glow back and boost confidence!

What is facial balancing?

Facial balancing is harmonizing your facial features so that they are proportionate. It’s all about enhancing certain areas while still maintaining unique features to create balance. When our team of aesthetic nurses assess your face during your initial consultation, we look at the face as a whole (like an artist looking at their canvas) versus isolating specific areas. If we want to get scientific about things (we are nurses, btw) some of the components we focus on are your zygomatic arches (the cheekbones), your bizygomatic width (the maximum horizontal distance from outermost edge of one cheek to the other), your bigonial width (the maximum horizontal distance from the outermost edge of one side of the jaw to the other), your Rickett’s line (the imaginary line from the tip of the nose to the chin) and how they work together in harmony to provide the most desirable facial appearance. We strive to maintain the inverted cone of youth aka the heart-shaped face for as long as we can!

If your concerns are a weak jawline, a back-set chin, hollowed cheeks, or thin/asymmetrical lips then facial balancing with dermal fillers may be a great option for you! Dermal filler is a gel-like substance made from hyaluronic acid (a naturally occurring substance that can be found in our bodies) that our skilled aesthetic professionals strategically inject into certain areas of the face to bring back volume and definition. There are many different brands of dermal fillers but some of our favorites are Restylane, Juvederm, Revanesse, and RHA. Each brand has different products with varying levels of support, strength, and flexibility that are made for specific areas of the face.

Common treatment areas:

– Lips

– Cheeks

– Marionette lines

– Pyriform aperture

– Nasolabial folds

– Jawline

– Chin

Dermal filler results are instant and may last as long as 12-18 months, depending on the patient. Keep in mind bruising and swelling post-treatment is common and to allow 2-3 weeks for optimal healing time. During your initial complimentary consultation with an aesthetic nurse, we will assess your current health and medical history to make sure you’re a good candidate for dermal fillers and recommend products based on your aesthetic goals, facial anatomy, and budget.

Fun Fact: One syringe of filler is equal to the size of one blueberry! Therefore, we may need multiple syringes over a course of a few sessions to achieve your desired results.

Are dermal fillers my only option?

Dermal fillers are amazing for correcting asymmetry, adding/restoring volume in certain areas, and creating balance amongst facial features but it’s not the only aesthetic treatment that can help you achieve your aesthetic goals! We’re strong believers that utilizing multiple modalities to simultaneously target multiple layers of the skin, fat, and muscle, reap far greater and more natural results than isolating one area and/or using only one modality. We think of aesthetics as an art and a science!

If you start to notice changes in skin laxity, texture, fine lines/wrinkles you may want to consider microneedling or radiofrequency microneedling. If your concerns are the underlying volume loss and facial framework, Sculptra may be a good fit. A combination of multiple modalities over a period of time may be suggested to get you to your desired goals!

Our team of aesthetic nurses preach slight enhancements over time- even Rome wasn’t built in a day! That is why natural-looking results are the expectation when you step into and leave our studio. With the combination of our team’s knowledge and experience plus understanding the latest technologies and techniques on the market, we’re able to help you achieve your skincare goals!
