Since introducing the Solaria CO2 resurfacing laser to our treatment menu, we’ve seen such an incredible response from our clients. With all of the excitement around this treatment, one of the most common questions we’re hearing in our treatment rooms is: “Is it better than Morpheus8 RF microneedling?”

The short answer is that they are not competing treatments. Each technology works at different depths of the skin and addresses different concerns, which is why they can often complement one another beautifully as a part of a long-term treatment plan.

As advanced aesthetic providers, we look at the skin as a multi-layered structure. Concerns like texture, pigmentation, laxity, and collagen loss don’t occur in a single layer. They develop at different depths within the skin over time. Because of this, different technologies are designed to target specific layers in order to achieve the most comprehensive and natural-looking results.

Solaria CO2 Laser: Surface Renewal and Skin Quality

If you’ve ever wished you could press the reset button on your skin and turn back time, Solaria comes pretty close. The Solaria fractional CO2 laser is an advanced resurfacing technology designed to improve overall skin quality while also stimulating collagen production beneath the surface.

During treatment, the laser delivers thousands of microscopic columns of energy into the skin, creating controlled microchannels. These tiny treatment zones remove damaged surface layers while triggering the body’s natural healing response. As the skin repairs itself, it produces new collagen and elastin, leading to smoother, firmer, and more even-looking skin.

Solaria is particularly effective for concerns such as:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Sun damage and hyperpigmentation
  • Uneven skin tone and rough texture
  • Crepey or thinning skin
  • Acne scarring or superficial scarring

This treatment is ideal for clients looking to improve overall skin clarity, radiance, and texture, often creating that refreshed, luminous appearance many people describe as “glass-like skin.”

Morpheus8 RF Microneedling: Deep Collagen Remodeling

While Solaria primarily focuses on resurfacing and improving the outer layers of the skin, Morpheus8 RF microneedling works deeper within the dermis, where the skin’s structural support is located.

Morpheus8 combines traditional microneedling with radiofrequency energy. Tiny gold-coated needles create controlled micro-injuries while simultaneously delivering heat beneath the surface of the skin. This heat stimulates collagen remodeling, tightens tissue, and improves the overall structural integrity of the skin.

Morpheus8 is particularly helpful for concerns such as:

  • Skin laxity and loss of firmness
  • Enlarged pores and uneven texture
  • Early jowling or heaviness in the lower face
  • Long-term collagen stimulation and skin tightening

Because it works deeper within the skin, Morpheus8 is often used to strengthen and support the skin’s framework from within.

Why These Treatments Work So Well Together

One thing we always remind our clients is that most skin concerns don’t just exist in one layer! Many skin concerns occur across multiple layers of the skin simultaneously. For example, a client may be experiencing some surface level concerns like pigmentation and rough texture, while also noticing deeper changes such as loss of firmness or early laxity. You’ll hear our team recommend a multi-modality approach, meaning we use different treatments that work at different depths of the skin to reap the best results!

When we combine gold-standard treatments like Solaria CO2 resurfacing and Morpheus8 RF microneedling, we are able to address both the surface quality of the skin and the deeper structural support at the same time.

Together, these treatments can:

  • Improve skin tone and texture
  • Reduce pigmentation and surface damage
  • Tighten and firm the skin
  • Stimulate collagen at multiple depths
  • Support more comprehensive and longer-lasting results

Not every client will need both treatments, but for the right candidate, this combination can produce significant improvement in overall skin quality.

Which One is Better?

Our honest answer is that it truly depends on your skin. Rather than asking which treatment is “better,” the more important question is which treatment is most appropriate for your specific concerns and goals.

For some clients, Solaria alone may be the best option. For others, Morpheus8 may be more appropriate. And in many cases, a strategic combination of both treatments over time can create the most balanced and natural outcome.

During a consultation, we evaluate your skin’s texture, elasticity, pigmentation, and overall structure to determine which treatments will provide the most effective results.

The best place to begin is with a consultation with one of our Aesthetic Nurse Practitioners, where we can assess your skin and develop a treatment plan tailored specifically to you!
